My swing speed is 112-114 and I hit an X shaft. With so many new models coming out every year, all year long, it almost behooves golfers really serious about their games to make time to test new models on a regular If you get fit and the numbers show you need say a 11.5 degree driver and it works, why would you ever want to switch to something with less loft? I am so impressed I have ordered the 3 wood to match.
There was at least 30 yard difference with the 9.5 loft and stiff shaft. What shaft do you reccomend for someone who is pretty consistent in the mid 80's with about a 260yd drive with a average to higher swing speed. Once I hit a second ball with it, I noticed how loud the club sounded at impact. Most all of them are good clubs and have the trampoline effect which lowers the spin rate so the choice of brand name is almost entirely a matter of personal preference. When I took the XL Pro to the course the next day I waited until the middle of the round when I was swinging well and hit my driver first and I have discovered that it does what it does VERY well. You would be surprised how many kids on my golf team and other teams had never even heard of Cleveland. Less loft does not automatically mean you will hit the ball further with a driver.
I went from my 975 at 8.5* to the hibore tour at 9.5* and added about ten yards with a little less draw and the ability to hit a easy fade Most of my drives were easily over 300 had one land on the green that was 319 and another just shy of 335 yds. To reach goal 1 I would be willing to do that even if it meant I was too lofted and losing some carry.
