I went back to the Cleveland, and after grooving my swing a bit, I realized that the Cleveland Classic driver is essentially a wrecking ball on a stick. I became addicted to the The Classic look appeals to me. Well, This IS how a driver should feel. Here are the numbers: LA - 13 (range: 11-15) Backspin - 2600rpm (range: 2100-3000) Ball speed - 168mph (range: 165-172) Carry - 285yds (range: 275-297) SS - 114mph (range: 112-116) As I was hitting about a 5 yd fade (approx 350rpm left to right spin) and I was seeing 300 yds show up in the total distance a lot. One time, they both came up together - 1.5 smash and 171.8mph ball speed (ss was 114.something). Lastly, it provided maybe the deepest face in an everyday golfer-friendly driver that we’ve ever seen.
It ended up being a nice consistent 85 (43/42) with only one 6 per 9. The driver looks great but looks aren't everything. There was no need for a wild shaft length. Despite the old school looks, there is a lot of technology at play from the speed slot curve on the outside of the head to the ultralite Miyazaki shaft.
